MEGEM was built around a single observation — that most bathroom surfaces are designed for appearance, not for the reality of water. We make one thing. A mat composed of diatomaceous earth, engineered to absorb, evaporate, and endure.
We believe the objects closest to daily life should be made with the most care. A bath mat is touched every morning. It should work without maintenance, look better over time, and never require thought. That is the only standard we hold.
One material. Two colorways. Each mat is cut from diatomaceous earth — a mineral formed over millions of years from fossilised algae. It absorbs on contact, evaporates without effort, and does not harbour moisture between uses. No fabric. No mould. No replacement cycle.
Stone does not
absorb compromise.
Diatomaceous earth is not a trend material. It has been used in filtration, preservation, and construction for decades. We apply it to the bathroom because its properties — instant absorption, rapid evaporation, mineral hardness — are exactly what the space demands. We did not invent the material. We chose it deliberately.
